The COMMUNICATION CONNECTION is a service of the Texas Annual Conference of the UMC that is designed to provide a free “needs assessment” and match making service to connect you with the expertise or resource people who will do their best to work at church-friendly rates.

Communication Connection

UMC churches of all sizes across the Texas Annual Conference (TAC) have a new resource at their fingertips. The Communication Connection is a support service designed to match churches with communication expertise to help them – whether through consultation or specific project support.

Communication consultant April Canik, who is heading up this new support service, has a passion for kingdom communication. April has several decades of communication/marketing experience and served as the Communication Director of St. Luke’s UMC for four years before helping the TAC with the Cross Connection newsletter. By leading a workshop on Best Practices in Church Communication, April is also a key resource for congregations in the Vital Church Initiative and looks forward to being a key resource for you.

  • STEP 2: Clarify Financial Expectations
    The conference covers the cost of the “needs assessment” portion during the initial phase. Communication Connection will identify vendors to help the church. A plan of action will be proposed with a cost estimate that will need pre-approval by the church before work is completed. (This could be as simple as a logo design or as extensive as a new website or written communication plan.)

  • STEP 3: Assistance Provided

    Communication experts will invoice the TAC and the TAC will collect from the churches.
